*I knock on your door, and when you open it, I welcome you with a broad smile.*
Hi there!
How have you been settling in? I’m bringing news, updates and tips! Ready?
Saturday Sunshine
I moved to Germany for my year abroad yesterday. My room is located in the basement, which made me sad at first because I love being able to work in well-lit rooms.
As I was sitting on my windowsill journaling, though, I tried to focus on the positive - whatever situation you find yourself in, there’s always something good coming out of it.
I was observing the nearby tree and the ground full of grass, the way the sunshine danced on the leaves, the angle at which it reflected on the ground and my walls.
It was beautiful.
Sometimes, life is about enjoying the small things. It’s about appreciating that no matter how high in the sky you climb, everyone begins at their roots. Everyone’s starting point is the ground.
There isn’t much life in the sky - it’s actually quite lonely. The ground, on the other hand, is full of life, richness and effort to keep growing, no matter the obstacles. The ground is where we see the true importance of beginnings.
If you’re at the start of your journey, no matter what your goal is, just remember: It’s about little steps. One small step is better than none. Just keep going, keep growing.
If you never give up, you can’t fail.
Language Lessons
If you’re struggling with your speaking abilities and you have nobody to speak to, I suggest you find a random picture online. Look at it and narrate its story to yourself out loud.
For example, find a picture of some people laughing in a café. First, try to describe everything you see. Then start expanding your story - why are they there? What are their relationships? Where will they go afterwards?
You’ve got yourself a very useful 10-minute speaking exercise right there.
Reading Recommendations

I’ve been reading The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon for some time now. I absolutely love it. The language is beautiful, the characters interesting, the story well structured and full of richness.
It’s an adult fantasy that features dragons in a way which I’ve never seen before! I’m very excited to keep reading. Those 848 pages are definitely worth it.

Clumsy Confessions
I honestly can’t even count how many times I’ve hit myself during the past two weeks. Well, let’s try to point out some highlights:
I hit my toe (kicked it against the furniture accidentally) at least 4 times
I shut the door of the bathroom, and the decorations around it fell down
I ate falafel dürum in such a way that the dressing was everywhere on the pavement
I shut a taxi driver’s car door with such force that he said: “Ouch! Careful!”
I bruised myself by knocking my body against furniture everywhere I went
I got bit by mosquitos and scratched it to the point where there was bare flesh - I’m wearing a plaster over it now.
Let’s see if I set something on fire or slip on a banana in the next two weeks, shall we?
